With over 82 thousand visitors during a four-day period Febratex 2010 was considered a great success, with a significant number of deals and a general sale balance of US$750 million. Also, the 11th issue confirmed the exhibit is becoming increasingly globalized: 1700 brands represented and 57 countries graced our event.
In the issue that celebrates the 20th anniversary of the event we will bring together the best in all textile chain segments, including: sewing machines, cutting machines, haberdashery, tags, packages, equipment, finishing, processing, threads, printworks, industrial automation, IT, weavers and raw materials.
Over 97% of all spaces available have already been booked by domestic and international groups for the 2010 issue, which once again goes to show that this will be an exhibit that will attract eyes from all over the world.
Febratex 2010 highlights:
- Business Center: The Vale do Itajaí region, where Blumenau is located, is the largest textile center in Brazil. Today, Santa Catarina has 7,241 companies in the textile chain, which employ about 280 thousand workers. Their textiles have an assured market both in Brazil and abroad.
- International Exhibit: For the 2008 issue we had 57 countries present with over 1,700 brands.
- Infrastructure: the Exhibit will take place in the new and modern Vila Germânica Event Center complex, which includes modern facilities, air-conditioned spaces and all the required resources for a large-sized event.
- Technological Update: you will count with a technical seminar put together in a partnership with the Brazilian Association of Textile Technicians (ABTT).

Blumenau
Blumenau lies in the northeast of the State of Santa Catarina , on the banks of the Itajaí-açú river which cuts the city in the east-west direction and is about 200 to 300 meters wide. Its urban area is at an average 14-meter altitude and it is classified by IBGE – The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics – as a colonial region.
Blumenau is limeted by: Jaraguá do Sul and Massaranduba to the north, Guabiruba, Botuverá and Indaial to the south, Luís Alves and Gaspar to the east and Indaial, Timbó and Pomerode to the west, and tends to develop toward the north, between Itoupava and Testo creeks, where the land is flater, and toward the west around BR 470 Rd.
Due to its location, population and urban equipment, Blumenau is considered the most important city in the region formed by the valleys of the Itajaí-açú, Itajaí-mirim and Benedito rivers what grants it a high influential power over the neighbor cities. The municipality of Blumenau is a member of AMMVI – The Municipality Association of the Itajaí-açú Valley – which is formed by 14 municipalities: Apiúna, Ascurra, Benedito Novo, Blumenau , Botuverá, Brusque, Doutor Pedrinho, Gaspar, Guabiruba, Indaial, Pomerode, Rio dos Cedros, Rodeio and Timbó.

Better facilities: The exhibit will take place in Blumenau – Santa Catarina in the new and modern complex the Center of Events “Vila Germânica”, which counts on modern premises, air-conditioned space and all necessary tools for the realization of big events. Built in an industrial style, the premises bear a twenty-six thousand square meter area and is formed by three fully air-conditioned pavilions plus a utility sector and a first class hall.
Producing wealth
The exhibit center of Vila Germânica park is the first concluded phase of a project which foresees the revitalization of the Exhibit Promoting Foundation of Blumenau (Proeb) and the whole area around it. The following phases shall bear the refurbishment of the Gymnasium Sebastião da Cruz (Galegão), which may also be used in the support of event, the construction of a hotel and a garage building, the revitalization of Vila Germânica itself with the addition of other attractions, including restaurant with beer houses and even a Colonial Café, the transformation of the present fair ground into a public market and the reurbanization of the access streets (Alberto Stein and Humberto de Campos streets).
The struggle of the Municipality and the State Government, and the support of private companies aims to boost business and leisure tourism in the city.
